Kamasan is a village in the Klungkung regency which is known as a centre for producing artists in the customary style. The artists paint for religious occasions, many under royal patronage. The Kamasan style has remained largely unchanged over time, although artists are allowed to interpret the style within a certain pre-set framework. Calendars were popular, charting the days according to local astrological lore
