This memorial portrait by Low Kway Song depicts Chia Ann Siang’s principal wife, Chan Chee Lee Neo. Chia Ann Siang (1834-1892) was a wealthy Malacca-born merchant and landowner. Little is known about Chia Ann Siang’s principal or first wife, Chan Chee Lee Neo (b. 1835, d. 1904) except that she bore him six children and that she must have handled the wealth and businesses of her late husband until she died in 1904.
