The Crown Prince Hotel at Orchard Road

Situated at the junction of Bideford Road and busy Orchard Road, the Crown Prince Hotel was officially opened for business in June 1984. The 303-room property with three floors of shopping arcades was first owned by Indonesian businessman Chang Ching Kok and managed by Prince Hotels Incorporated, a leading Japanese hotel chain. The hotel’s management initially targeted business travellers from Australia, Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia and the United States. The hotel, which was later known simply as the Crown Hotel, was acquired by the Hong Kong-based Park Hotel Group in 2005 and subsequently became the Park Hotel Orchard. The property underwent an $80 million renovation and reopened as the Grand Park Hotel in October 2010. Knightsbridge, the hotel’s new four-storey retail podium, was opened later that year.
