This is a mooncake mould from Sin Tong Nam Confectionary (Xin Dong Nan Bing Jia新东南饼家). The mooncake mould is used to shape mooncakes with yolk. On the mould, there are carvings that says the confectionary brand’s name, ‘Xin Dong Nan (新东南)’ along with the word ‘yolk’ (Dan Huang 旦黄). Sin Tong Nam was first established during the 1970s at Zion Road before moving to Tiong Bahru. The confectionary was known for producing Cantonese-style Chinese pastries such as mung bean biscuits, phoenix biscuits (Ji Zai Bing鸡仔饼), and assorted biscuits (Gong Zai Bing 公仔饼).
