Correspondence between Naval Base bus service employee and employer

These letters capture the correspondence between an employee from the Naval Base bus service employee and his employer. The former, a bus conductor, is writing to his employer to inform him of his resignation from the company. Opened in Sembawang in 1938, the Naval Base was considered to have a significant role to play in the British defence strategy against the Japanese threat of war in the Far East. The Naval Base bus service was run by Mr Cheong Ah Kee, who provided shuttle services between different points within the grounds of the Naval Base.
