Letter from Naval Base bus service operator to the Captain of Dockyard

This letter, written by the operator of the Naval Base bus service, requests for permission for more passengers to board the buses even if it exceeded the permitted capacity. Opened in Sembawang in 1938, the Naval Base was considered to have a significant role to play in the British defence strategy against the Japanese threat of war in the Far East. The Naval Base bus service was run by Mr Cheong Ah Kee, who provided shuttle services between different points within the grounds of the Naval Base.
