This copper engraving illustrates a detailed city plan of Batavia (Jakarta), the Dutch capital of the Dutch East Indies. The map was from Clemendt de Jonghe, an important and well-known editor and seller of prints and maps in Amsterdam during the 1650s to 1670s.
