The Exhibition took place in a massive building known as the Garden Palace, which was repurposed as a government office building after the end of the Exhibition. 23 countries took part in the Exhibition, including British Malaya and Singapore. Silver medals were awarded to office bearers and organizers of notable displays, whereas bronze medals were more commonly awarded to exhibitors.
