The Victorian Intercolonial Exhibiiton was held at Melbourne between 2 September to 16 November 1875, and was a preparatory exhibition for the Australasia court in the Philadelphia International Exhibition in 1876. Although most of the exhibits came from the Australian colonies, the Exhibition also featured exhibits from other places including two from Singapore. This bronze medal was awarded to the Raffles Library, Museum and Garden for their exhibit in the Singapore Court of the Exhibition. Alongside the firm Boustead and Co., the Raffles Library, Museum and Garden displayed agricultural produce such as tapioca, sago, mace and rattans; tin sheets and ore; as well as models of various sailing vessels such as a common passenger boat, sampan pendek, sampan kolek, and lancaran.
