This is a TransitLink adult farecard. TransitLink farecards, magnetic stored value cards, were introduced in December 1990 by the TransitLink company. The cards could be used for cashless payment on both the MRT and buses, replacing SMRT stored value tickets. Commuters used the cards by inserting them in the MRT fare gate reader or bus validator machine. Farecards could feature messages promoting courtesy, such as this farecard which depicted Singa the Lion, the mascot of the Singapore Kindness Movement.
