Weng Tong He (1830-1904) was a Chinese Confucian scholar who lived during the late Qing dynasty. He was appointed as a tutor to the Tongzhi Emperor (1856-1875) and the Guangxu Emperor (1871-1908). This copybook features some of his teachings.Printed by the Qiu Shi Zhai Yin Xing (求石斋印行) in China, this copy book was likely used in Chinese schools during the early- mid 20th century. Chinese schools would have their students practise calligraphy from such books to hone the students’ skills and expose them to Chinese culture and traditional values.
