This is a tureen from the Europe Hotel, which was first named the Hotel de l'Europe. The Hotel de l'Europe was established at Hill Street in 1857. It later shifted to Beach Road and then to the Esplanade in 1865. It was rechristened as the Grand Hotel de l’Europe, and finally renamed the Europe Hotel in 1918 after a change in ownership. It was closed in 1932 and demolished to make way for the Supreme Court building.
