Lady Sophia Raffles was the wife of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, having married him in 1817. This letter is part of a collection of letters written by her to the Revd Thomas Raffles, who was her husband’s cousin. In it, Lady Raffles updates that she has been away from her home at High Wood for six months, and mentions that her nephew Charles enjoyed his visit with him.
