Lady Sophia Raffles was the wife of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, having married him in 1817. This letter is part of a collection of letters written by her to the Revd Thomas Raffles, who was her husband’s cousin. Here, Lady Raffles requests for some papers regarding the small property the family still owned in Singapore, and encloses a copy of a letter of attorney to George Bonham, Governor of Singapore, Alexander Johnston and Alexander Guthrie, merchants at Singapore.
