Lady Sophia Raffles was the wife of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, having married him in 1817. This letter is part of a collection of letters written by her to the Revd Thomas Raffles, who was her husband’s cousin. In it, Lady Raffles requests for Revd Raffles’ consent for her brother to take his place on the board of the Zoological Society of London.
