Christmas dinner menu for Changi

This Christmas dinner menu marks the first Christmas celebration for the prisoners of war (POWs) in Changi. This festive season would also be the most important time of the year for the POWs as it symbolises joy, hope and resilience in the midst of hardship. The menu is addressed to Albert, whose full name is Albert Riley. Riley held the rank of Private in the 196 Field Ambulance unit (part of the Royal Army Medical Corps) and later became a prisoner of war at the Changi Prison. Fortunately, he survived the imprisonment and hardship, and eventually returned to Britain after the surrender of the Japanese.
