This survey map of Singapore and the surrounding Straits was co-produced by Captain Samuel Congalton and John Turnbull Thomson in 1846, with additions in 1855. Congalton was a sailor with the East India Company who was involved in battling piracy in the region. Thomson was the government surveyor in Singapore, having produced plans of Singapore town the years before.
