Multiple stripes with tiny geometric patterns in red, yellow, and blue make up the main body of this ikat textile, with two wider bands depicting interlocking humanoid frogs (katak) that symbolise the cycle of life through reproduction. This design is mostly used by weavers in the northern part of West Timor. Such cloths are usually worn by men, wrapped around the waist, during rites of passage ceremonies and other rituals.
