This state lectern was used by Mr Lee Kuan Yew from 1987 to 2003 in his capacity as Prime Minister, Senior Minister and Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar. The lectern was used by Mr Lee to deliver speeches at his constituency’s Chinese New Year and National Day Dinners, along with official events such as the opening of the Mass Rapid Transit system and Cabinet swearing-in ceremony in 1988. It was also used at Mr Lee’s 75th and 80th birthday celebrations in 1998 and 2003.
