Jain shrine

The shrine shows the first Jina, Rishabhanatha, surrounded by twenty three jinas in a holy assembly listening to him preach. His teaching is indicated by the wheel of law flanked by two deer on the base. The clothed jinas and the inscription on the back indicate that the donors, positioned on the base, are from the Svetambara sect. Nine heads positioned on the front are the nine planetary deities. Despite the profusion of figures, the receding planes and pierced nature of the casting make it seem less over-crowded. The architectural elements such as the slender columns add to its refinement.
