This skirt was woven with two-colour threads, hence the rich ground of red and orange tones. Above the hem, is a supplementary weft woven band of geometric designs in gold-wrapped thread. This type of skirt is more typical of Lao dress of the 1950s. It retains the tradition wrap-around waistband, unlike the more tailored versions that became popular in urban areas.
