This skirt is called "Sinn Mai Kham" and is a rare surviving example from Shan royal or elite circles of Kengtung, Burma. It is woven with gold-wrapped yarns in the upper section, a band of embroidered lotuses and a silk green band with a hem of hand-woven Chinese silk ribbon and sequins. Traditionally, the skirt was made by royal courtiers and used by Shan royalty and elites during important ceremonies.
