This skirt has a woven weft ikat ground of orange and red silk. A broad band is sewn onto the hem comprising supplementary weft woven geometric designs in colourful silks and gold-wrapped thread.This type of skirt is more typical of Lao dress of the 1950s. Unlike the traditional skirt-wraps with broad waistband, this tailored skirt was a style that became popular in urban areas.
