The field telephone was designed for military use and made to withstand wartime conditions. This field telephone comes with a carrying case and has a serial number on the small plate on its front cover, which opens up to the internal compartment containing the battery. This was a standard issue in the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II and it was used in the Japanese campaigns in Southeast Asia, including Singapore.
