This set of 16 certificates belonged to Mr Swaminathan Stephens Rahjan. The certificates were presented to him by the Customs and Excise Department (CED), for the commendation of his work, and the Civil Service College, for his participation in courses. Mr Swaminathan was born in Singapore in 1952. He was the third generation of a family who had originally arrived from India.Mr Swaminathan joined the CED after the completion of his National Service. CED merged with the Singapore Immigration and Registration (SIR) in 2003 to form what is known as the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) today. Mr Swaminathan served in the CED and ICA for a total of 40 years.
