Flag of the Tiger General used in Tiandihui initiation ceremony

The flags of the five Tiger Generals were present during the Tiandihui initiation ceremony. These flags represented the founders of the five minor lodges of the Hung Society, each of whom were given the title Tiger General. Chinese characters are found on all of the flags, such as the character ‘gui’ written on the flag shown. These flags were part of the secret society paraphernalia found in the William Stirling Collection. William George Stirling was the Assistant Protector of Chinese in Singapore from 1921 to 1931.
