Flag of the Tiger General used in Tiandihui initiation ceremony

The flags of the five Tiger Generals were present during the Tiandihui initiation ceremony. They represented the founders of the five minor lodges of the Hung Society, each of whom was given the title Tiger General. Chinese characters are found on all five flags, although the Chinese character depicted on this flag is not a proper word. These flags form part of the secret society paraphernalia that is found in the William Sterling Collection. William George Stirling was the Assistant Protector of Chinese in Singapore from 1921 to 1931.
