This seated female figure is depicted breast-feeding her baby. It is covered in uneven green glaze which has misfired in places. The simplistic modelling and incised facial features reflect the mass production of such figures, which are thought to have been used in rituals associated with protection during childbirth. Many figures have been found with their heads removed.
