This is a satay grill used by a Peranakan household at Dublin Road, which was headed by Mr. Koh Beng Swee, a third generation Peranakan (Straits Chinese). Satay is a popular hawker dish consisting of skewered meat such as pork, beef, chicken or mutton grilled over charcoal. It was originally sold by hawkers who peddled them in the streets during the early 20th century.
