Hand-stitched into a sarong and worn by Louise Charlotte Hermiene Snel-Bastiaans (1888-1974), this batik features a striking design with a red kepala adorned with tumpals and decorative fruits, complemented by a small border with a rice stalk design and a larger booh border with leaves and flower buds. The badan contrasts with synthetic dyes in reddish brown, black, and blue, reflecting the ‘Gendolo Giri’ style and differing from the red kepala, suggesting separate workshops for each section.
