The hand-stitched sarong features a ‘Nitik’ design, where patterns from woven cloth are replicated using a canting with a uniquely shaped spout to create square dots. The use of natural dyes is evident in the dark and light blue hues, with a greenish tint suggesting real Indigo. Similar Nitik designs are seen in the works of Lien Metzelaar and Van Zuylen. Originating from Pekalongan, this batik represents a common style for daily wear, highlighting the stylistic significance of the Nitik technique in early 20th-century Indonesian textiles.
