This certificate was awarded to a student at the British Army's Army Boys' Trade School, located in Nee Soon, after he passed the Malayan Army Boys Junior Test. Boys joined at 14 or 15, and received a general education as well as technical and military training. After graduation, they would finish technical training at British Army training centres. Students received free education and were even paid, but in return, they would be expected to serve in technical vocations in the British Army for at least seven years after the age of 18.
