This cap badge was worn by then-Sergeant Bob Cheah when he was a sergeant teacher in the British Army's Royal Army Educational Corps. While attending officer cadet school in Aldershot in the United Kingdom between 1963 and 1965, Sgt Cheah gave lessons in the evening as a sergeant teacher. He became an officer in 1965 and left British service in 1969 to join the Singapore Armed Forces, where he served until retirement in 1992.
