The Tang Shipwreck was acquired through the generous donation of the Estate of Khoo Teck Puat.
Several massive ovoid jars, approximately one metre in height, were found on the shipwreck. The sheer size of these vessels highlights the skill of the potters who produced them. The fact that several of these jars have survived the shipwreck intact is additionally miraculous. Such large jars may have been used as water storage containers for the crew on board. The lugs on the shoulder of the jars enabled a cover to be attached to them and to protect the contents within.
