The Tang Shipwreck was acquired through the generous donation of the Estate of Khoo Teck Puat.
The seven pure gold vessels recovered from the Tang shipwreck constitute one of the most important discoveries of Tang gold objects ever made. Among these was an oval, undecorated bowl. As plain gold objects from the Tang period are less common than those with engraved decoration, this example – in superb condition after centuries under the sea – is a spectacular find.
