This porcelain bowl was retrieved from a kiln site in Dehua. It would have been stacked with other bowls for firing. However, due to high silica content and high firing temperature, the wares warped and collapsed onto each other. Kiln wasters such as this can still be found in Chinese kiln sites today and these indicate the difficulties of mass produced ceramics using traditional methods.
