This ear ornament was either soldered together from several sections, or cast in a single piece. This period saw the beginning of using heat to work gold and the use of techniques like casting and soldering. Such was the technical sophistication that it is possible that gold working had become a specialised occupation by this time. Unlike the earlier period when gold ornaments were grave offerings, jewellery of this period was made for the living.
