Primary school standard English reader

Published by the Nanyang Book Co. Ltd., this English textbook was written for use in Chinese vernacular schools. The book starts with a chapter on Great Britain and includes lessons on King George V and the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The emphasis on English history and society was unlike the Chinese textbooks used in the Chinese schools. The latter were imported from China and focused on Chinese history and culture.
