Imelda Cajipe-Endaya (b. Manila, 1949) is an artist, curator, writer, and cultural organizer whose work centres on feminism and the roles of women in Philippine history and culture. Her practice explores themes such as women’s empowerment, globalization, displacement, and the broader Filipino diaspora. Today, she has become a key feminist figure in Philippine art.'As Tho the World Fell on Me' is one of Cajipe-Endaya’s earliest oil on canvas paintings, created during her time as a student at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts. The piece features interlaced human faces and arms emerging from a dark emerald-green backdrop, reflecting her early artistic explorations in painting. This work stands out as an early effort in a medium for which she was less recognised, as she was primarily known as a printmaker during this period.
