Chow Ah Ming came to Singapore from Ipoh, Malaysia, in the 1950s and joined the Teachers’ Training College. At this time, he lived at the Kingsmead Hall student hostel for Malayan trainee teachers at Farrer Road run by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). Chow’s Christian faith was an important part of his life and he attended the Straits Chinese Methodist Church at Kampong Kapor Road. Subsequently, when Chow and his family moved from Queenstown to Limau Estate in Bedok, he and his wife began attending the nearby Bedok Methodist Church, which this publication is from. The Bedok Methodist Church community became a great support to Chow, especially in his later years. Chow was a member of the Bedok South Bible Study group, the Methodist Adult Fellowship and the Church Care Group. He also participated in excursions for seniors organised by the church. As he grew older, the members of the church would visit Chow at his home to check in on him and provide social support.
