This is a pair of tomb pillars carved with two of the Eight Immortals (baxian 八仙). They were originally placed at two intersections of the angular tomb arms that extended from each side of the tomb. The immortals carved at the top of the tomb pillars are Tieguai Li 铁拐李and Zhongli Quan 钟离权. Tieguai Li can be identified by his crutch and gourd, while Zhongli Quan is portrayed in his typical manner as a pot-bellied man. Although these legendary figures from Chinese mythology are frequently represented in Chinese visual arts, this pair is the only example of tomb pillars that feature the Eight Immortals, which have been recovered from Bukit Brown Cemetery thus far.
