These boots are designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier. Gaultier is known as fashion's enfant terrible for his experimental approach to design and presentation; he designed Madonna's cone bra and corset and sent men down the runway in long silk skirts. While Gaultier is better known as a couturier, his playful approach to fashion means that one can expect unconventional materials and silhouettes from his label. These boots are given a futuristic twist with metallic leather. These boots were donated by Genevieve Peggy Jeffs, a society doyenne and philanthropist known for her striking style. Jeffs wore these boots during winters in London, preferring flat boots to navigate the cobbled streets. She also wore them to her sons’ graduation in Michigan.
