The inflight magazine of Singapore Airlines (SIA) was first launched in 1976 as Silver Kris. Covering current and future trends in air travel, as well as travel features and destination guides, the magazine also provided information about SIA's products and services, fleet, network, and airports served. An online version of the magazine was launched in 2010 and the magazine, presently stylised as SilverKris, has been fully digital since after April 2020. This issue is part of a set donated by Mr Jimmy Chew, who worked as an SIA engineer from the 1960s until his retirement in 1998.The October 1987 issue of the magazine, pictured here, has a feature story on kelongs in Singapore. These are offshore structures consisting of wooden platforms with some shelter, designed and built by households or communities for fishing and fish-farming.
