This is a membership card for the Senior Citizens’ Movement issued by the People’s Association (PA). PA was a statutory board that aimed to foster social cohesion in Singapore. During the 1980s and 1990s, in response to Singapore’s ageing population, PA implemented several initiatives to encourage senior citizens to lead a healthy and active lifestyle, such as the Senior Citizens’ Movement in 1986. As compared to PA’s existing Senior Citizens’ Clubs, the movement sought to organise a greater variety of activities for senior citizens on a larger scale.
