The form of the porcelains is inspired by the tingkat, which are cylindrical multi-layered tin containers used across Asia to transport hot meals. On the other hand, the motifs are inspired by the void decks of Housing Development Board (HDB) apartment blocks. Each of the five designs features views that HDB residents are familiar with. These are presented through differently shaped openings, which also provides each lidded container with its respective name – Flower, Cross, Bagua, Diamond and Oculus. In Supermama’s words, “These tingkats pay homage to the familiar simplicity of our void decks and their little quirks that let us know we're home.” Created in collaboration with the Japanese ceramic company Kihara Inc, the porcelain dishes were made in Arita, Japan, and sport stamp-printed designs in underglaze cobalt-blue pigments.
