J. Jackson and William Bentley were privates that trained in photography in the military, establishing a studio together in Rangoon in 1865. Jackson also ran his own studio J. Jackson & Co in Rangoon. Specializing in studio and documentary photography, Jackson offered portrait services for customers, additionally photographing and selling prints of views in Moulmein and landmarks and people in and about Burma.
