With long sideburns and crooning style, and dressed in tailored pantsuits, broad belts, and shoes, he performed to full houses in Singapore. Especially in the 1960s, he was the opening act for several international artists (Helen Shapiro, Freddie and the Dreamers, Honeycombs) and thus contributed to the local popular music scene. David who could impersonate Cliff Richard, Dean Martin and Perry Como stuck with Elvis because he was more macho and really moved when he sang. It was during a Helen Shapiro show at the Badminton Hall that David met Ginny Tiu sisters from San Francisco who appeared with Elvis in It Happened at the World’s Fair, Girls, Girls, Girls and the Roustabout.
