This cassette tape is among the group of objects donated by Mr Wilson David. Titled, Memories are Made of This, the tape issued for Lions Club charity performance by WEA Singapore in 1983. A local singer-performer who paid tribute to Elvis Presley, David has been likened to the Rock and Roll King. With long sideburns and crooning style, and dressed in tailored pantsuits, broad belts, and shoes, he performed to full houses in Singapore. Especially in the 1960s, he was the opening act for several international artists (Helen Shapiro, Freddie and the Dreamers, Honeycombs) and thus contributed to the local popular music scene. Over the years, David has also sung for numerous charities and fund-raising causes. With this performance , he raised over 100,000SGD to aid Spastic Children. This album was issued after a 12 year absence. In an article, David is quoted as saying his new image is a "divorce from the Elvis Presley routine but not from Rock N Roll" ("Goodbye to Elvis”: Wilson David wants a new image in Showbiz” Singapore Monitor, 24 December, 1982, page 10), from recording”. The tape has 3 Hits from Presley, Crying in the Chapel, That’s All Right, Puppet on a String and Angel. The tape is believed to have been retailed at 10SGD and made available at all Metro stores
