This large tray features a central medallion decorated with tendrils and foliage. Rows of crescent moon and star designs and scrolling vegetal motifs outline the border of the tray. The edges are serrated in a scalloped form.Large trays were used for multiple purposes. They served as stands for water pots, serving platters for food, covers for water vases, and as display receptacles at weddings – gifts exchanged between families were placed on such plates for display.
