Published by Chung Hwa Book Company, this updated series of eight Chinese textbooks were was widely used by Chinese-medium secondary schools in Singapore in the 1970s. These updated textbooks had more content and contain essays from prominent Chinese intellectuals over the centuries such as Zhuge Liang, Su Shi, Lu Xun and Liang Qichao.Chung Hwa Book Company was founded in 1912 in Shanghai and established a branch in Singapore in 1923. It ended operations in 1997.
